Description
In the year since the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted life as we all knew it, we have all been called upon to practice more resilience and responsibility than usual. The Emerson community has been in an ongoing effort of adjustment to new and constantly-evolving circumstances, but it can be easy to miss the opportunity to reflect and process when so much of our energy and attention is required to simply react and proceed. The losses we have endured have been both tangible and not: loved ones have died, plans and projects have been deferred or canceled, visions of our college experiences have been adjusted.
To that end, on Friday, March 26th at 4pm, the Center of Spiritual Life, in collaboration with affiliated faculty member MJ Halberstadt ‘10 and student Patty Tamayo ‘21, invite you to join in a virtual community gathering entitled A Space for Grief and Reflection as a way to acknowledge and honor the losses and complexities of this unusual anniversary.
In addition to this community gathering, this “space” will also be a physical installation/remembrance table in the lobby of 172 Tremont Street starting on March 24th until the end of the semester, with opportunities for in-person engagement. Emerson community members may choose to contribute small items or written notes that honor the tangible and intangible losses from the pandemic -- as well as the wisdom and strength we have gained.
If you'd like to submit the name of a loved one who you have lost this year to be included on the remembrance table, please click here.
